Welcome to Foundations.
The primary focus of foundations is to learn how to lift heavy things up and put them down, safely. In addition, we will teach you other useful skills such as, how to squat, press, deadlift, Clean and Jerk, and Snatch (no laughing!) You will learn how to do the aforementioned lifting safely, with the proper technique, and to the fullest range of motion.
This course will take place over two, or three days, depending on which class option you choose. Here’s the breakdown of what will be covered:
- Introduction to Box Life- We will go through what your typical day here at Valhalla Athletics will feel like, including checking-in, preparing for class, warming up/standard class organization, where to find the various pieces of equipment, etc.
- Member/Coach Expectations- We will review the member/coach expectations sections of your Foundations Packet, as well as field any questions in regards to the box rules and/or expectations and why we have each one. Be prepared for a few parent-like “you’ll understand one day” answers.
- Goals- By this time you will likely have spent a week or more training here and may have a better picture of your personal goals. We would like you to write these down now, as well as any goals you had prior to walking through our door, thus cementing them for yourself, as well as your coaches. We find this to be much more rewarding once you’ve smashed these goals wide-open.
- The Movements- As we say, the magic is in the movement. You will learn by the numbers, we will teach you.
